43. Dua at a specific time in every night

Jabir (RA) said he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: There is an hour during the night in which no Muslim individual will ask Allah for good in this world and the next without His giving it to him; and that applies to every night.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As (RA): A man said: O Messenger of Allah, the mu'adhdhins excel us. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Say (the same words) as they say, and when you come to the end, ask Allah for anything and that will be granted to you.

Anas (RA) said, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, when the call to prayer (adhan) is given, the gates of heaven are opened and the dua is accepted.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The nearest a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication (in this state).

37. About Lailatul Qadr

Allah (SWT) says -

اِنَّا اَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِيْ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ ﴿١﴾ وَمَا اَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ ﴿٢﴾ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ اَلْفِ شَهْرٍ ﴿٣﴾ تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوْحُ فِيْهَا بِاِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ مِّن كُلِّ اَمْرٍ ﴿٤﴾ سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتّٰي مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ ﴿٥﴾

Translation: (1) Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree. (2) And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? (3) The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. (4) The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. (5) Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.

38. Dua of Lailatul Qadr

The Prophet (ﷺ) said to 'Aa'ishah (RA): You say -

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيْمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّيْ

Transliteration: Allaahumma innaka 'afuwwun karim, tuhibbul-'afwa, fa'fu 'anni

Translation: O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, Generous. You love forgiveness; so forgive me.

39. Dua after every obligatory prayer

Regarding when the Dua is accepted, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "On the last night and after the obligatory prayers."

40. Dua at the last part of the night

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, comes every night down on the nearest Heaven to us when the last third of the night remains, saying: "Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?" [1]

40.

Praising those who ask forgiveness on the last night, Allah says -

كَانُوْا قَلِيْلًا مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُوْنَ ﴿١٧﴾ وَبِالْاَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُوْنَ ﴿١٨﴾

Translation: (17) They used to sleep but little of the night, (18) And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness. [2]

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Dua at the time between Adhan and Iqamah is not returned.

42. Time to accept prayers (during Adhan, Iqamah, Raining and War)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Two (prayers) are not rejected, or seldom rejected: Prayer at the time of the call to prayer, and (the prayer) at the time of fighting when it's intensified. Another narration says, "when it's raining."

46. After awaking at night, reciting some specific duas

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The person who wakes up at night and says these words -

لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ‏ ، اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ وَسُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ وَلَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَاللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ

Transliteration: Laa ilaaha illAllahu Wa'hdahu laa Sharika lahu Lahul mulku, wa lahul-'hamd wa huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in Qadir. Al'hamdulillahi wa sub'hanallahi wa laa ilaaha illAllahu wAllahu akbar wa laa 'hawla Walaa Quwwata illa billaah

Translation: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. He is the Only One and has no partners. For Him is the Kingdom and all the praises are due for Him. He is Omnipotent. All the praises are for Allah. All the glories are for Allah. And none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, And Allah is Great And there is neither Might nor Power Except with Allah.

O Allah! Forgive me. Or invokes (Allah), he will be responded to and if he performs ablution (and prays), his prayer will be accepted.

47. Dua of Yunus (AS)

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Yunus (As) prayed while he was in the belly of a fish -

لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ اِنِّيْ كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ

Transliteration: Laa 'ilaaha 'illaa 'Anta sub'haanaka 'innee kuntu minadh-dhaalimeen

Translation: There is none worthy of worship but You, glory is to You. Surely, I was among the wrongdoers.

So indeed, no Muslim man supplicates with it for anything, ever, except Allah responds to him.

48. Dua for one who afflicted by a calamity

If any slave of Allah supplicate when he afflicted with a calamity -

اِنَّا لِلّٰهِ وَاِنَّا اِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُوْنَ، اَللّٰهُمَّ أْجُرْنِيْ فِيْ مُصِيْبَتِيْ وَاَخْلِفْ لِيْ خَيْرًا مِّنْهَا

Transliteration: Innaa lillaahi wa 'innaa 'ilayhi raaji'oon, Allaahumma'-jurni fee museebatee wa 'akhliflee khayran minhaa

Translation: We are from Allah and unto Him we return. O Allah take me out of my plight and bring to me after it something better.

Umm Salama (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If any Muslim who suffers some calamity says, what Allah has commanded him - (The dua is mentioned above) Allah will give him something better than it in exchange.

49. After someone's death

Umm Salama (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to Abu Salama (as he died). His eyes were fixedly open. He closed them, and then said: When the soul is taken away the sight follows it. Some of the people of his family wept and wailed. So he said: Do not supplicate for yourselves anything but good, for angels say" Amen" to what you say.

50. Dua at the ing of the prayer #1

While praying with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), one of the people said -

اَللّٰهُ اَكْبَرُ كَبِيْرًا وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ كَثِيْرًا وَسُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ بُكْرَةً وَّاَصِيْلًا

Transliteration: Allahu 'Akbar Kabiran, walhamdu lillaahi kathiran, wa Subhaanallahi bukratan wa'asila

Translation: Allah is the Greatest, Most Great. Praise is to Allah, abundantly. Glory is to Allah, at the break of day and at its end.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Who uttered such and such a word?" A person (who have recited these words) among the people said: It is I, O Messenger of Allah! He (ﷺ) said: it’s utterance surprised me, for the doors of heaven were opened for It. Ibn 'Umar (RA) said: I have not abandoned them (these words) since I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying this.

51. Dua at the ing of the prayer #2

Anas (RA) reported: A man came panting and entered the row of worshippers and said:

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيْرًا طَيِّبًا مُّبَارَكًا فِيْهِ

Transliteration: Alhamdulillaahi hamdan kathiran tayyiban mubaarakan fih

Translation: Praise is to Allah, much, good and blessed praise.

When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) finished the prayer he said: Who amongst you uttered these words? The people remained silent. He (the Prophet ﷺ again said) : Who amongst you uttered these words? He said nothing wrong. Then a man said: I came and had a difficulty in breathing, so I uttered them. He replied: I saw twelve angels facing one another as to who will take them up (to Allah).

52. While reciting Surah Fatiha behind the Imam

Abu Huraira (RA) reported: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said: If anyone observes prayer in which he does not recite Umm al-Qur'an, It is deficient [he said this three times] and not complete. It was said to Abu Huraira (RA): At times we are behind the Imam. He said: Recite it inwardly, for he had heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) declare that Allah the Exalted had said: I have divided the prayer into two halves between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks. When the servant says: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the universe, Allah the Most High says: My servant has praised Me. And when he (the servant) says: The Most Compassionate, the Merciful, Allah the Most High says: My servant has lauded Me. And when he (the servant) says: Master of the Day of judgment, He remarks: My servant has glorified Me. and sometimes He would say: My servant entrusted (his affairs) to Me. And when he (the worshipper) says: Thee do we worship and of Thee do we ask help, He (Allah) says: This is between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for. Then, when he (the worshipper) says: Guide us to the straight path, the path of those to whom Thou hast been Gracious not of those who have incurred Thy displeasure, nor of those who have gone astray, He (Allah) says: This is for My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for.

53. Dua after getting up from the rukoo

One day we were praying behind the Prophet (ﷺ). When he raised his head from bowing, he said, "Sami'Allah Huliman 'Hamidah" A man behind him said -

رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، حَمْدًا كَثِيْرًا طَيِّبًا مُّبَارَكًا فِيْهِ

Transliteration: Rabbanaa wa lakal-hamd, hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan feeh

Translation: Our Lord, praise is Yours, abundant, good and blessed praise.

When the Prophet (ﷺ) completed the prayer, he asked, "Who has said these words?" The man replied, "I." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I saw over thirty angels competing to write it first."

54. If the Amin of any one coincides with that of the angels

Narrated by Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Say Amin" when the Imam says it and if the Amin of any one of you coincides with that of the angels then all his past sins will be forgiven." [1] Narrated by Abu Huraira (RA): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Say Amen" when the Imam says 'Ghairil maghdubi 'alaihim walad daalleen' (not the path of those who earn Your Anger (such as Jews) nor of those who go astray (such as Christians); all the past sins of the person whose saying (Amin) coincides with that of the angels, will be forgiven". [2]

55. Dua after rising from rukoo

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When the Imam says, 'Sami'Allahu liman hamidah' you should say -

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ

Transliteration: Allaahumma Rabbanaa wa lakal-hamd

Translation: O Allah, our Lord and to You be the praise.

If the saying of any one of you coincides with that of the angels, all his past sins will be forgiven.

56. Before salam #1

Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) entered the mosque. Then a person is reciting Tashahhud towards the end of the prayer. He said -

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَسْاَلُكَ يَا اَللّٰهُ بِاَنَّكَ الْوَاحِدُ الْاَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِيْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُوْلَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهٗ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌ اَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِيْ ذُنُوْبِيْ اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْمُ

Transliteration: Allaahumma inni as'aluka ya Allahu bi annakal Wahidul-Ahad us-Samadulla-dhi lam yalid wa lam yowlad, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad, an taghfirali dhunubi, innaka antal-Ghafurur-Rahim

Translation: O Allah, I ask of You, O Allah, as You are the One, the Only, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who begets not nor was He begotten, and there is None equal or comparable to Him, forgive me my sins, for You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "He has been forgiven," three times.

57. Before salam #2

A man was praying. He did ruku’, sajdah and supplicate after tashahhud -

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَسْاَلُكَ بِاَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ بَدِيْعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ

Transliteration: Allaahumma inni as'aluka bi-anna lakal-hamdu, laa ilaaha illaa antal-mannanu badi'us-samawaati wal-ardi, yaa dhal-jalaali wal-ikraam! Yaa hayyu yaa qayyum

Translation: O Allah, I ask Thee by virtue of the fact that praise is due to Thee, there is no deity but Thou, Who showest favour and beneficence, the Originator of the Heavens and the earth, O Lord of Majesty and Splendour, O Living One, O Eternal One.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Do you know what he has supplicated with?' They said: "Allah (SWT) and His Messenger (ﷺ) know best."He said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, he called upon Allah by His greatest Name, which, if He is called by it, He responds, and if He is asked by it, He gives.'

58. Before salam #3

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) heard a man saying -

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَسْاَلُكَ بِاَنِّيْ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّااَنْتَ الْاَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِيْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُوْلَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهٗ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌ

Transliteration: Allaahumma 'innee 'as'aluka bi 'anni 'ash-hadu 'annaka 'AntAllahu laa 'ilaaha 'illaa 'Antal-'Ahadus-Samadul-ladhee lam yalid wa lam yoolad wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan 'Ahad

Translation: O Allah, I ask You, by the fact that I bear witness that You are Allah. There is none worthy of worship but You, the Only God, Independent of creation, who was not begotten and begets not, and none is equal to Him.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, he called upon Allah by His greatest Name, which, if He is called by it, He responds, and if He is asked by it, He gives.'

59. Reciting specific dua after ablution

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If any one of you performs ablution and performs it properly, then he says -

اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَّا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهٗ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ

Transliteration: Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha ill-Allahu wahdahu laa sharika lahu, wa ash hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa Rasooluhu

Translation: I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad (ﷺ) is His slave and His Messenger.

The eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him; He will enter (Paradise) through whichever door he wishes.

60. Dua in the day of ‘Arafah at ‘Arafat

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The best supplication is the supplication on the day of 'Arafah. The best dua that the Prophet (ﷺ) recited is -

لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَاشَرِيْكَ لَهٗ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

Transliteration: Laa ilaaha ill-Allahu, wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer

Translation: None has the right to be worshiped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and all praise and He is over all things omnipotent.

61. When the rooster crows

Narrated by Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When you hear the crowing of rooster, ask for Allah's Blessings for (their crowing indicates that) they have seen an angel. And when you hear the braying of donkeys, seek Refuge with Allah from Satan for (their braying indicates) that they have seen a Satan."

62. When the heart is devoted to Allah

This concept is included in the hadith of the inhabitants of the cave. Because each of them mentioned one of their good deeds which they did only for Allah and to get close to him. So, when they were supplicating by their good deed, Allah responded to them.

63. Ten days of the month of Dhul Hijjah

Narrated by Ibn `Abbas (RA): The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijja)." Then some companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Not even Jihad?" He replied, "Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah's sake) and does not return with any of those things."
