Translation: Allah! There is none worthy of worship but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. (Sura Baqarah 2:255)

Whoever reads Ayatul Kursi when he lies down to sleep will have a guardian from Allah remain with him and Satan will not be able to come near him until he rises in the morning.

One has to get up at night and go to sleep with a strong desire to perform tahajjud; It has been said in various hadiths that the reward of tahajjud will be obtained even if one does not wake up at night. It was narrated from Abu Ad-Darda' (RA) who attributed it to the Prophet (ﷺ): "Whoever goes to his bed intending to get up and pray qiyam at night, then sleep overwhelms him until morning, will have recorded that which he intended for and his sleep will be a charity given to him by his Lord."

Translation: (190) Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding. (191) Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire. (192) Our Lord, indeed whoever You admit to the Fire - You have disgraced him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers. (193) Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous. (194) Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise." (195) And their Lord responded to them, "Never will I allow to be lost the work of [any] worker among you, whether male or female; you are of one another. So those who emigrated or were evicted from their homes or were harmed in My cause or fought or were killed - I will surely remove from them their misdeeds, and I will surely admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow as reward from Allah, and Allah has with Him the best reward." (196) Be not deceived by the [uninhibited] movement of the disbelievers throughout the land. (197) [It is but] a small enjoyment; then their [final] refuge is Hell, and wretched is the resting place. (198) But those who feared their Lord will have gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein, as accommodation from Allah . And that which is with Allah is best for the righteous. (199) And indeed, among the People of the Scripture are those who believe in Allah and what was revealed to you and what was revealed to them, [being] humbly submissive to Allah . They do not exchange the verses of Allah for a small price. Those will have their reward with their Lord. Indeed, Allah is swift in account. (200) O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful. (Sura Al-Imran 3: 190-200)

Then the Prophet (ﷺ) stood up and prayed two rak'ats; In that prayer he prolongs Qiyam, Rukoo and Sujood. After ending the prayer he fell asleep ....

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you if he is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, 'The night is long, so stay asleep.' When one wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone; and when one performs ablution, the second knot is undone, and when one prays the third knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart."

229. Upon seeing a good or a bad dream

If you have a bad dream in your sleep, you should spit three times on the left side, then say three times -

اَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيْمِ

Transliteration: A'oodhu billaahi minash-Shaytaanir-rajeem

Translation: I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the outcast.

One need to change sides in their sleep. It is forbidden to tell this dream in front of anyone. Even if you have good dreams, you don't have to tell anyone. But it can be said in front of a close friend or in front of wise people. Narrated Abu Qatadah (RA): The Prophet (ﷺ) said: A good dream is from Allah. And bad dreams are from the devil. So whoever has a good dream, let him reveal it to the one he loves. And if anyone has a bad dream, let him seek refuge in Allah from its harm and from the evil of Satan, and spit three times to the left. Don't reveal the dream to anyone. Then it will not be able to harm him. [1] Jarir (RA) said, Rasulullah (ﷺ) said, when one of you has a dream that he dislikes, he should spit three times to his left. And he seeks refuge in Allah from Satan three times and changes sides. [2] Abu Hurairah (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: If a person has a bad dream, he should get up and pray two rak'ahs.
